NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Energy companies from 25 countries have been selected as Finalists for the Platts Global Energy Awards. The 2016 Finalists, chosen from over 170 nominees from 30 nominating countries, were announced by program host S&P Global Platts.
Tom Tribone, the CEO and Founder of Franklin Park Investments (FP), has been selected as a finalist for the Lifetime Achievement Award. FP manages GGIC, Ltd. (with Guggenheim Capital) and Sammons Renewable Energy (“SRE”, with Sammons Financial Group). Through these and other investments FP provides vital energy and infrastructure services in most of the world’s major markets including in North America with SRE and in South America, Europe, India and China with GGIC.
Established in 1999 and often described as “the Oscars of the energy industry,” the Platts Global Energy Awards highlight corporate and individual innovation, leadership and superior performance in 18 categories that span the entire energy complex.
Prior to Franklin Park, Tom was an early participant in the development of the Independent Power Industry (IPP) at Atlantic Richfield Company and then at the start-up of AES Corporation. Much of the current commercial structure of the IPP industry, including the renewable energy industry, was established in this early work. He was a prime mover behind the globalization of the industry, leading efforts on many pathfinding transactions in the US and to open foreign markets. His unique management style has been written about by such renowned authors as Robert Waterman Jr., co-author of In Search of Excellence. Tom supported the establishment of The Tribone Center at Duquesne University to provide free legal services to veterans and others in Pittsburgh.
Hundreds of energy industry representatives are expected to attend the 2016 Platts Global Energy Awards black-tie dinner gala in New York City on December 8. The awards program will be emceed by CNBC Reporter Jackie DeAngelis.
Preceding the Awards program, finalists and other industry executives will take part in the Platts Global Energy Outlook Forum, to explore industry-critical issues with government officials and thought leaders.
