MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Minneapolis-based independent wealth-management firm JNBA Financial Advisors has been named a finalist in the 2016 BBB International Torch Awards for Ethics.
According to the Better Business Bureau, the International Torch Awards for Ethics honors companies that “demonstrate best practices in leadership character and high standards of organizational ethics that benefits their customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders and communities.” The awards were presented at a ceremony in Indianapolis on Sept. 20.
To enter the International Torch Award for Ethics, a business must first be a winner of its local BBB award program. Late last year, Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota named JNBA Financial Advisors a winner of its 2015 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics. Award selection is based on the following criteria: leadership commitment to ethical practices, communication of ethical practice, leadership practices to unify the organization, organizational commitment to performance management practices, organizational commitment to ethical human resource practices and organizational commitment to the community.
“To be recognized at this level absolutely reinforces the importance of our firm’s unwavering commitment to always doing what is best for the client,” says JNBA CEO Richard S. Brown. “We have built our firm around being an ethical leader in the industry and doing the right thing for our clients. JNBA has embraced that commitment and created an environment and culture that keeps the conversation around ethics front and center, and I’m proud that our entire team lives and breathes that promise every day.”
According to Brown, while JNBA Financial Advisors’ legal designation as a fiduciary requires it to act in its clients’ best interests at all times, the firm’s disciplined process, business model, and people are what drive its ethical philosophy. With offices in Minneapolis and Duluth, JNBA’s leadership team – notably JNBA President Kim Brown, Richard’s wife – sets a clear example and specific expectations for ethical behavior. As a result, JNBA has posted a 96-percent client-retention rate since 2001, consistently gives back to the local and global community, and has become a nationally recognized industry leader in Minnesota and across the country.
For the third consecutive year, the Financial Times named JNBA to its 300 Top Registered Investment Advisers (RIA) list, which recognizes top independent RIA firms from across the U.S. And earlier this year, Richard S. Brown was ranked by Barron’s as one of Minnesota’s top financial advisors, making JNBA the top RIA in Minnesota for the second year. Also, for the seventh consecutive year, the independent, 37-year-old firm was named to Barron’s list of the 1,200 top advisors in the country. Barron’s also named Richard S. Brown to its 2015 list of the Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors. JNBA has twice been named one of the nation’s top 100 independent wealth advisors by Barron’s and The Winner’s Circle.*
