The investigation centers on the August 24, 2016 Reuters article which stated that Goldcorp’s mine in Penasquito was leaking selenium into the groundwater well near the mine as early as October 2013. Goldcorp informed the Mexican government about the rise of selenium levels in the groundwater and contaminated water in other properties. The Company did not disclose this information to the public until August 24, 2016. When this information was disclosed to the public, shares of Goldcorp fell in value.
