WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste Political Action Committee (CCAGW PAC) announced its endorsement of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in the Arizona Republican primary for the U.S. Senate.
Senator McCain has courageously lead the fight to end waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in the federal government for decades. He scored an impressive 94 percent in the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste’s (CCAGW) 2015 Congressional Ratings, making him a “Taxpayer Hero.” Since he was elected in 1986, he has a lifetime rating of 90 percent, which is the highest of any senator who has been in office for more than seven years.
CCAGW PAC Chairman Tom Schatz said: “Senator McCain not only talks the talk, but walks the walk in the battle to safeguard taxpayer dollars. All too often, members of Congress tout their waste-fighting commitment on the campaign trail, only to see that fervor fade the longer they remain in Washington. Senator McCain has never wavered in vigorously leading the fight for accountability and transparency in government, sparing no agency or program, and even calling out his colleagues when necessary. He spearheaded a tireless crusade against wasteful and corruptive earmarks, which led to the 2011 moratorium on the practice, and he continues to push for a permanent ban on earmarks.”
“Senator McCain is one of the few senators who possesses a proven track record of fighting for taxpayers not only when it is easy, but also when it is challenging. At the dawn of a new presidency, it is imperative that Sen. McCain remain as an indispensable leader in the Senate. There is no one else in Arizona - and few across the country - who is such a determined, consistent, and dedicated fiscal conservative,” Schatz concluded.
