LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Southern California Biomedical Council (SoCalBio) and semantic search leader NimbleCat today announced the launch of an advanced job board platform that matches local bioscience jobseekers and employers.
Under the partnership announced today, NimbleCat targets its patented semantic matching technology to L.A.-area job board data in order to help local biotech, biomed and digital health companies hire local candidates. According to a recent poll conducted by SoCalBio, more than 40 percent of new hires by such companies are from outside the L.A. region. The report cites inefficiency in identifying and recruiting qualified local candidates as a major challenge for the industry, and a financial burden due to higher recruitment and relocation costs for both established and emerging companies.
“Our goal is to empower SoCalBio member companies to recruit from the local community, while providing local universities and academic research institutions a ‘go-to’ resource to help graduating students stay local as they enter the workforce,” said SoCalBio President and CEO Ahmed Enany. “The new job board powered by NimbleCat is a big step in the right direction.”
NimbleCat’s semantic matching technology uses a classification engine trained specifically to identify bioscience professionals ranging from clinical researchers to biostatisticians. Combined with NimbleCat's unique ability to rank candidates based on leadership abilities, the engine identifies high-value job candidates with greater than 90% accuracy.
“We’re excited to partner with SoCalBio in order to help the region’s bioscience industry recruit high-value local employees more efficiently,” said NimbleCat CEO Dr. Sunil Mehta.

NimbleCat is a Silicon Valley company with semantic classification and matching technology that is the subject of three US patents. One of the specific verticals the classification engine has been trained for is bioscience professionals. In addition, the classification engine identifies individuals with the general functional skills that every enterprise needs, including manufacturing, marketing, sales and legal.
