PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Arizona Technology Council today announced it has been honored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) with a “Power of A” award for its leadership role in the Arizona SciTech Festival—the third largest science and technology festival in the nation, trailing only Washington, D.C., and New York City.
“The Arizona SciTech Festival serves as a powerful force for generating interest and excitement in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields by bringing together cities, businesses, educators and students to share their passion,” said Steve Zylstra, president and CEO of the Arizona Technology Council. “We are honored to receive this award and be recognized for our role as a Foundational Partner of this worthwhile cause.”
Now in its fifth year, the Arizona SciTech Festival is a statewide celebration of STEM held annually in February and March. Through a series of over 1,200 expos, workshops, conversations, exhibitions and tours held in diverse neighborhoods throughout the state, the Arizona SciTech Festival excites and informs Arizonans from ages 3 to 103 about how STEM will drive our state for next 100 years.
“The Arizona SciTech Festival would not exist without the inspiration and hard work put into it from our Foundational Partners, including the Arizona Technology Council,” said Dr. Jeremy Babendure, executive director, Arizona SciTech Festival. “I have the Council and its dedicated, innovative members to thank for recruiting me back to Arizona to run the festival, as well as for their ongoing support every step of the way. With the Council’s constant support and motivating vision, the SciTech Festival became an achievable reality.”
Spearheaded by the Arizona Technology Council Foundation, the Arizona Commerce Authority, Arizona Science Center, Arizona Board of Regents, Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, the Arizona SciTech Festival is a grassroots collaboration of over 800 organizations in industry, academia, arts, civic, community and K-12.
“Congratulations to the Arizona Technology Council for helping to make the world a better place,” said Sharon J. Swan, FASAE, CAE, CEO of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and chair of the Power of A Awards Judging Committee. “Their work with the Arizona SciTech Festival exemplifies how associations are a positive force in our everyday lives – not just to the profession or industry they represent, but society at large.”
