HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MicroPact, the global leader in Data-First™ case management and business process management (BPM) software, today announced that the Florida Department of Education (DOE) Bureau of Educator Certification (BEC) has selected its VERSA Regulation online licensing solution to replace the bureau’s legacy certification systems. This will be the fifth instance of VERSA Regulation in Florida, making it the de facto state standard for licensing software.
VERSA Regulation is a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solution designed for large regulatory agencies that manage hundreds of thousands of entities. Data and documents tied to more than 350,000 user accounts, including nearly 300,000 certified educators, will be migrated to the new system.
The purpose of educator certification is to support the academic achievement of Florida’s students by assuring that educators are professionally qualified to deliver highly effective instruction. Educators must be certified to teach in all Florida public schools and in many of the state’s private schools. BEC licenses and regulates these educators, who include classroom teachers, school administrators, and support professionals such as guidance counselors and media specialists.
In addition to managing back-office functions, the VERSA Regulation suite includes an analytics module and an online portal that supports applicants, certificate holders, and the public. A single database supports the entire certification and renewal process, including the ability to attach and upload necessary documents for certifications, calculate fees, and accept online credit card payments.
More than five million active licenses managed by more than 30 regulatory agencies nationwide use VERSA Regulation, including four agencies in Florida: the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the Office of Financial Regulation, the Department of Health – Agency for Health Care Administration, and the Department of Health – Medical Quality Assurance. Both North Carolina and Wisconsin currently use the system to license educators.
“Like the other Florida agencies that rely on VERSA Regulation, BEC is committed to providing timely, accurate, and convenient services to its constituents, and that means upgrading to more efficient systems,” said Tom Sechler, CEO of MicroPact. “Implementing the same system used by sister agencies not only enables them to consolidate multiple systems onto a single, proven platform, but avails them of a large group of trained VERSA users.”
