CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In celebration of National Lineman Appreciation Day, ComEd salutes the men and women who work tirelessly, day-in and day-out, to provide safe and reliable energy service to customers across the region. As part of its appreciation efforts, the company is joining energy companies across the nation to encourage others to acknowledge these unsung heroes on social media by using the hashtag #thankalineman.

ComEd has more than 1,900 employees, who are dedicated to operating and maintaining electric systems that serves nearly 4 million customers in northern Illinois. These workers serve as first responders in emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week, often in challenging conditions, and on weekends and holidays to keep the power flowing for customers.

To honor the nation’s workers, a resolution was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives designating July 10, 2016, as National Lineman Appreciation Day. ComEd joins utility companies across the nation, including Exelon sister utilities Atlantic City Electric, BGE, PECO, Delmarva Power and Pepco, in honoring all utility workers – both on the lines and in the field.
