LIVONIA, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Valassis, a leader in intelligent media delivery, names Grant Fitz as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). An experienced, strategic finance leader, Fitz will be responsible for leading the financial operations, working closely with all divisions to support strategic growth initiatives at Valassis, a wholly owned subsidiary of Harland Clarke Holdings.
Fitz joins Valassis with more than 25 years of financial and operational experience. Most recently, he was the corporate vice president and CFO for Xerox® Technology Business where he managed the financial operations for the technology business. Additionally, he was responsible for Xerox Financial Services, the Xerox internal financing business. At Xerox, he received the company’s prestigious CEO Award for significant business turnaround.
Prior to his tenure with Xerox, Fitz spent nearly two decades at General Motors (GM) where he held multiple positions with increasing responsibility including chief financial officer of different business units and as the company’s first chief risk officer. At GM, he implemented an industry-leading risk management infrastructure, creating a significant competitive advantage and supported successful crisis management of the Japan earthquake and tsunami. He has held various leadership roles at GM in both the United States and Europe. As Vice President and CFO at Nexteer Automotive, a Saginaw, Michigan-based global steering systems supplier, he provided business and financial leadership to drive improved revenue.

Fitz received his bachelor’s degree in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science degree in management and Master of Business Administration degree from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, where he was awarded the General Motors Fellowship Award and named a Krannert Scholar, the highest honor awarded to the top three Krannert graduates.
