Redfin Ranks the Best Cities for Beer Lovers

Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Milwaukee Top Off the List

SEATTLE--()--Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Milwaukee are best U.S. cities for beer lovers, according to the latest report by Redfin (, the next-generation real estate brokerage. With the help of the Beer Institute, Redfin examined several factors that make it easy and affordable to enjoy a beer, including the number of breweries per 100,000 adults age 21 and older, active brewery permits, state beer taxes, median home prices and Walk Score®, in more than 50 metro areas across the U.S.

Rust Belt cities dominated the list, powered by their relative affordability, low tax on beer and plentitude of breweries. The old guard of beer cities was well represented by the hometowns of Miller (Milwaukee), Budweiser (St. Louis) and Coors (Denver) placing in the top 10. On the West Coast, stalwarts like Seattle, Portland and San Francisco all placed highly, however the growing price of homes along the West Coast kept them from earning the top spots.
