SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Voting is now open for the 2016 Oticon Focus on People Awards at www.oticon.com. This is the 18th year that the Oticon Focus on People Awards will honor hearing impaired students, adults and advocacy volunteers who are making a positive difference in the world. This year’s finalists come for different walks of life, each with unique talents and remarkable achievements. They share one passion - to help make the world a better place for people with hearing loss.
When Oticon created the Focus on People Awards in 1997, it was the first national awards program to recognize everyday people doing amazing things, who also happened to have hearing loss. More than 18 years later, the program continues to create the kind of awareness that changes attitudes and opens doors of opportunity for all people with hearing loss.
Website visitors are invited to cast their vote for the 12 finalists who represent the “best of the best” from this year's nominations in each of four categories - Student, Adult, Advocacy and Practitioner. The total number of votes received by each finalist will help to determine who will be the first, second and third place winners in each category.
“Our goal is to reach as many people as possible with the inspirational stories of our Oticon Focus on People Awards finalists,” says Senior Marketing Manager Nancy Palmere who heads the awards program. “We encourage everyone to visit the Oticon website and meet some truly remarkable people who show that hearing loss does not limit a person’s ability to achieve, contribute and inspire!”
Voting is open now through August 15, 2016. Winners will be announced in September. To vote and to learn more about the Oticon Focus on People Awards, visit Oticon.com.
