SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Classy, a leading fundraising technology company for social impact organizations, today announced a new multi-year partnership with Room to Read, a global organization transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education, to power the non-profit’s online donations, crowdfunding and peer-to-peer fundraising and make the giving process easier for its large base of international donors.
As part of the partnership, Classy will expand its product’s international fundraising capability, launching first with Room to Read and then making it available to all of its customers. The new international fundraising automation system will dynamically handle currencies, the routing of funds and receipting under a single campaign or donation page depending on where the donor is coming from. This will eliminate the need for international non-profits to create duplicate campaigns or have multiple products for each country that its supporters come from. It will also give them much needed flexibility to customize receipting and route funds by country.
“We are extremely excited to partner with such an innovative social impact organization like Room to Read and push the boundaries of our technology forward,” said Scot Chisholm, CEO & Co-Founder of Classy. “In 2015 alone, non-profit organizations using the Classy platform received donations from over 190 countries. Providing the ability to internationalize a fundraising campaign with a click of a button will save our customers a tremendous amount of time and money and ultimately allow them to concentrate their time scaling their global impact.”
Room to Read has a large base of international supporters, both corporations and individuals, who support the organization’s programs in Literacy and Girls’ Education through personalized fundraising campaigns. The partnership with Classy will provide a dynamic peer-to-peer fundraising platform, cross-currency campaign options with the option to give in 10 different currencies, and the ability to migrate data to the organization’s Salesforce database.
“As the philanthropic market becomes more complex, non-profits must offer both an impactful solution to a challenge investors care about, but also make giving simple and engaging,” said Dr. Geetha Murali, Chief Development Officer of Room to Read. “Room to Read’s global network has developed diverse streams of fundraising and our partnership with Classy will allow us to work more efficiently and offer our international donor base a best-in-class platform through which to support our mission.”
Classy’s modern fundraising platform continues to catch the attention of nonprofits of all sizes and cause categories. Room to Read joins over 2,500 other nonprofits who have chosen Classy to help enable them to scale their operations and impact, including national organizations like Heifer International, Oxfam America, Team Rubicon, FEED, and Pencils of Promise, along with other San Francisco-based organizations including Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco, San Francisco Zen Center, University of California San Francisco Foundation, MOVEMEANT Foundation, and Children's Council of San Francisco.

Room to Read is a global organization transforming the lives of millions of children in low-income countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, our innovative model focuses on deep, systemic transformation within schools in low-income countries during two time periods which are most critical in a child’s schooling: early primary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls’ education. We work in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensure girls can complete secondary school with the skills necessary to negotiate key life decisions.
