Miami Beach, Florida, Announces Successful Go-Live with Tyler Technologies

EnerGov modernizes financial, permitting and inspection processes

PLANO, Texas--()--Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) today announced the successful go-live of its EnerGov™ planning, regulatory and maintenance platform with the city of Miami Beach, Florida. The city will use EnerGov for all permitting and plan review processes, including building, planning and public works.

With its legacy system nearing end of life, Miami Beach needed a new system to automate manual processes and more closely align departments. After vetting several software providers, the city found that EnerGov best met their permitting needs and provided the ability to integrate with their existing financial software, Tyler’s Munis® solution. The city turned to assistant city manager Mark Taxis to lead the effort. Taxis assembled a team that worked closely with Tyler staff to ensure the software integrated departments and avoided operational silos.

“Our elected officials and city manager asked us to take a hard look at our business processes in an effort to ‘unkink the pipes’ and streamline as much as possible,” Taxis said. “They wanted to provide an efficient, pleasant environment for residents and businesses to conduct business and for that process to be transparent and accessible. The city needed a system that managed all our processes under one umbrella that could not only communicate within related departments, but also with the city’s financial software.”

With EnerGov in place, Miami Beach staff now has the ability to work smarter while investing their valuable time into providing excellent customer service to their residents and business community. Carmen Sanchez, the deputy planning director for Miami Beach, praised the collaborative efforts between her staff and the EnerGov team.

“The EnerGov team shared best practices and insight from other cities, which helped us shape decisions during implementation to streamline processes, as directed,” Sanchez said.

“We’re pleased to see the success the city of Miami Beach is having with the EnerGov platform,” said Rusty Smith, general manager of Tyler’s EnerGov solution. “Having an enterprise-wide system that ties public submission to review and approval activities across so many departments now allows city staff to provide even higher levels of service to their constituents.”

The city of Miami Beach has approximately 88,000 residents and is considered to be one of America’s pre-eminent beach resorts.
