Books-A-Million Customers Exceed Donation Goals with over 85,000 Bags of Coffee for U.S. Troops and Veterans

Donated bags of coffee will be distributed to U.S. troops overseas and VA hospitals across the country in time for Independence Day, as part of company’s Coffee for the Troops campaign with Soldiers’ Angels

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--Thousands of U.S. troops serving overseas and in VA hospitals across the country will soon receive a special taste of home, thanks to the incredible support from Books-A-Million customers as part of the company’s seventh Coffee for the Troops campaign in partnership with Soldiers’ Angels. Customers purchased over 70,000 bags of freshly ground Joe Muggs coffee for donation and Books-A-Million contributed over 15,000 bags, bringing the total number of donations to more than 85,000. Books-A-Million customers alone exceeded the goal of 50,000 that was set for the campaign.

The patriotic program, which ran May 1 through May 29, allowed customers to show their support by purchasing a bag coffee at any Books-A-Million store or online at booksamillion.com. Books-A-Million also contributed a bag of coffee for every five customer-purchased bags. All donations will be distributed to U.S. troops overseas and VA hospitals across the country through Soldiers’ Angels just in time for Independence Day!

“We appreciate Books-A-Million and the thousands of customers who support our organization and the men and women serving in our Armed Forces,” said Amy Palmer, President and CEO of Soldiers’ Angels. “Without their generous support we would not be able to provide these goods to troops deployed overseas and veteran patients at VA Hospitals. These generous coffee donations give them a true taste of home and lets them know that they are not forgotten.”

Since 2012, Books-A-Million has partnered with Soldiers’ Angels to donate more than 320,000 bags of coffee to troops overseas or in VA hospitals. The company has exceeded its Coffee for the Troops campaign goals each year.

“Year after year, we are continuously amazed by our customers’ deep appreciation for the sacrifices our brave veterans and troops have made for this country,” said Natalie Blankenship, café buyer for Books-A-Million. “It is because of their ongoing support and generous donations that Books-A-Million is able to collect and send the comfort of coffee to service members in need.”

Customers were also able to leave a personalized message on each bag donated to show their admiration and appreciation for the services and sacrifices of U.S. soldiers. Customers who donated even received a button to wear and show their support.
