SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Silicon Publishing, the leading provider of software solutions and plug-ins for the Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe InDesign Server, today announced that it has completely re-architected Silicon Designer, its highly customizable, end-to-end web-to-print solution for online document editing. Built on HTML5, this modular version of Silicon Designer offers a plug-and-play capability for easy interfacing with assets from diverse sources, including multiple DAMs (digital asset managers), social media galleries, and dynamic imaging pipelines for a powerful, mobile-friendly online editing experience.
The Gold Standard of Web-to-Print Editing Platforms
Originally developed in 2009 and deployed by a wide range of partners and end user companies around the world, Silicon Designer merges the power of Adobe InDesign Server, the highest quality solution for rendering print output, with HTML5, the global standard for web and mobile content, to ensure a seamless and connected online editing experience.
Silicon Designer supports more than 1,000 document types and is used in numerous web-to-print solutions, from personalized greeting cards, door hangers and photo books to marketing collateral, large format signage and dimensional products. With Silicon Designer, Adobe InDesign templates are transformed into online design experiences, with complete and customizable editing functionality, to deliver high-quality output with the power of Adobe InDesign Server. Content to be edited with Silicon Designer starts out in InDesign, is then converted for online editing with mobile and desktop browsers, and when editing is complete, it’s output to an InDesign document using InDesign Server.
“We are more mobile-friendly than ever before, and the new pluggable interface points and client-side customization features go orders of magnitude beyond what we or anyone else has ever offered in this space,” said Max Dunn, Silicon Publishing CEO. “We are already seeing our customers build user interfaces and integrations we never would have imagined.”
Integrated with over a dozen DAM Systems and LiquidPixels
Silicon Designer has become the leading online solution for publishing Adobe InDesign content due to its exceptional engineering team. A number of Silicon Publishing’s engineers came from the original Adobe InDesign development team, providing the company an unrivaled knowledge of InDesign. Leveraging the Adobe InDesign Composition Engine, the company developed Silicon Connector, which is fast becoming the most popular way that DAMs connect to Adobe Creative Cloud applications. Today, over a dozen leading DAMs, including most recently DALIM ES5 and MediaValet, now use Connector technology.
“This latest release of Silicon Designer was greatly influenced by our work with Connector and our DAM partners,” says Dunn. “Just as we can plug the Creative Cloud into arbitrary DAM providers, Silicon Designer has a modular, pluggable architecture. It is ready to interface with nearly any asset source or imaging pipeline.”
In addition to integrating with DAMs and other asset sources, the new Silicon Designer integrates with LiquiFire, a robust imaging technology from LiquidPixels, a Silicon Publishing technology partner. LiquiFire expands the previewing capability of Silicon Designer for the visualization of garments and other dimensional products.
Easy to Extend and Customize
“Our clients want to have a unique presence in the market and no two Silicon Designer implementations look the same,” says Dunn. “The Silicon Designer User Interface layer is architected with customization in mind, while our APIs enable a vast spectrum of possible integration points, from shopping carts and workflow systems to databases and content stores. The new Silicon Designer is built with extensibility in mind from the ground up.”
