Women in Manufacturing Elects 2016 Chairperson

CLEVELAND--()--Women in Manufacturing (WiM) has elected Sheila LaMothe, associate director of marketing and public relations for Farmington, Connecticut-based TRUMPF Inc., 2016 chairperson of the WiM Board of Directors. LaMothe takes the reins after serving as WiM’s vice chairperson in 2015 and participating on the WiM Summit host committee for the past four years.

“I’m honored to be elected chairperson and thank 2015 WiM Chair and Zierick Manufacturing Corporation President Gretchen Zierick for her outstanding leadership during the past year,” said LaMothe. “I look forward to working with WiM’s board and staff members to continue to provide year-round support to women in the manufacturing industry, helping them to grow and succeed in their careers and helping to build a stronger manufacturing sector for the future.”

LaMothe is a sought-after industry communications expert who brings 25 years of manufacturing marketing experience to her new role leading the WiM board. In addition to her work as TRUMPF’s associate director of marketing and public relations, she is a member of the FMA, SME, AWS, SPIE, the FABTECH Exhibitor Advisory Council, and the SPIE Expositions and Events Committee. Prior to joining TRUMPF in 2002, LaMothe facilitated connections between Connecticut manufacturers and sales representatives in Europe and Asia as an international trade specialist with the Department of Economic and Community Development, and worked as group marketing manager for an international aerospace components manufacturer.

“A critical part of WiM’s mission is to spread the word about the many opportunities for women in today’s manufacturing sector,” said WiM President Allison Grealis. “Sheila’s background and experience make her an invaluable asset to us in this effort and I know she will help WiM make great strides.”

Under LaMothe’s leadership in 2016, WiM will continue its commitment to unparalleled support for women in the manufacturing sector. In addition to regular webinars and many other online resources, WiM also will offer in-person professional-development opportunities including the annual WiM SUMMIT in Nashville, TN; a Leadership Lab for Women in Manufacturing in Cleveland, OH; and local networking events at WiM chapters across the United States.
