PITTSBURGH--()--Since December of 2015, Maxim Crane has provided crane and heavy haul assistance for the modernization of the first class facility, Sun Life Stadium. According to Vice President of Maxim’s Florida Operations, Frank Fioravanti, “It is the largest commercial project going on currently in the state of Florida.” This past weekend, Maxim’s four Manitowoc 18000s were the superstars for setting the new roof design at the stadium. The four machines set a mega truss weighing over 1,100,000 pounds at a 105’ radius. The super lift was reportedly done in a synchronized motion when setting the pieces in place. The machines were able to achieve the strenuous task with their same capacity design and engineering of 420’ main boom and full training super lift systems. “The heavy lift capabilities and versatility of the 18000 made it the best choice for the installation of the steel structure,” stated Vice President of the National Crawler Division Rob Schultz. However, the highlights do not stop there for Maxim’s fleet of assistance.

Recently, the team utilized their Dual Lane 21 Line Goldhofer to move the older scoreboards weighing over 500,000 pounds each to make room for the new high-definition video boards. There will be a total of four HD video boards in each corner of the stadium with brand new frames and LED lighting. Currently, the team is preparing for the placement of the boards by placing the LED lighting and frames with Maxim’s Grove GMK5210 with a 210 ton capacity.

According to President Frank Bardonaro, the development of the stadium has been an overall outstanding experience for Maxim. "Our Maxim Team has consistently demonstrated our ability to provide turn-key lifting solutions on the most sophisticated projects in the country. The addition of Alan Ashlock and his Heavy Haul and rigging expertise has proven to add another dimension that allows our customers to have a true `one stop shop.' The Miami project has utilized our safety, engineering, lifting and hauling expertise to ensure total coordination on this site. We look forward to continually improving and proving to our customers that our coast-to-coast network of branches and ability to move cranes in a cost effective manner will provide the type of service they need, when and where they need it everywhere in the country."

From the beginning, the Maxim team has been optimistic about the plans for the Sun Life stadium, and continues to work instrumentally towards designing a comprehensive plan to coordinate the logistics and engineering that meet or exceeded the project’s demands. Utilizing nine of Maxim’s crawler cranes, four Manitowoc 18000s with maxer, and the new Manitowoc MLC650, the Maxim team is looking forward to the project’s continued success.
