MIAMI--()--mPower Solar Generator, a provider of clean and portable electricity, has created the #LightUptheWorld Challenge to find a global ambassador who will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel and dramatically improve the lives of thousands of families in need.

Apply to have the chance to travel the world and bring un-electrified villages a much needed portable solar energy solution.

The mPower Global Ambassador program is a one-year, US$150,000 paid position. Anyone 18 years or older from all over the world can apply. The Global Ambassador will travel to several countries with mPower’s non-profit partner, TECHO, to deliver donated solar generators to families without electricity. All travel expenses will be covered.

In developing countries, one billion people depend on kerosene for light. The burning of kerosene lamps leads to the death of 1.5 million people every year. Inhaling kerosene smoke is the equivalent of smoking 4 packs of cigarettes a day, inducing respiratory illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia and cancer. mPower Solar Generators charge during the day and store enough energy to provide harmless light at night, while powering electric ports for charging devices and appliances.

“Access to electricity is essential to a family’s health, safety, education, economic progress and quality of life,” said Will Perego, CEO of mPower Solar Generator. “Imagine what your life would be without electricity. Say goodbye to your smartphone, TV, refrigerator, lights at night, medical treatments, surgeries and more. The mPower Ambassador has the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of being paid to travel the world to provide electricity to families in need.”

The mPower Ambassador’s main responsibilities are:

Deliver solar energy – The Global Ambassador will bring the donated Solar Generators to families without electricity, in collaboration with mPower’s partner TECHO. TECHO has built more than 110,000 transitional homes throughout Latin-America. All logistics will be taken care of and managed.

Create awareness – One billion people don’t have access to electricity. In collaboration with the United Nations’ “Sustainable Energy for All” Practitioner Network, the Global Ambassador will report back to the world via social media, blogging, interviews with journalists and YouTube updates.

Light Up the World – By bringing light to this dramatic human condition, the Global Ambassador will be instrumental in assisting the United Nations in achieving its Sustainable Development Goal #7, “to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all” by 2030.
