MILAN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--With the target of upgrading the capacity and updating the underlining transport technology of the existing network, UNO COMMUNICATIONS has awarded SM OPTICS with its network transformation project. As part of this award SM OPTICS will supply POT and WDM equipment, network management and all the network transformation services, including network design, traffic engineering and deployment.
The network transformation project will migrate all the current Ethernet and SDH services to MPLS-TP, transmitted over a new convergent WDM optical layer of Nx10Gbps lambdas. This will eliminate the bottlenecks created by the existing non-homogeneous architecture. With this upgrade the core network capacity grows tenfold, ready to support the increasing wholesales services.
