VISALIA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Edeniq, Inc., a biorefining and cellulosic technology company, today announced that Mid American Agri Products/Wheatland (MAAPW) has installed Edeniq’s CellunatorTM technology at its ethanol and biodiesel plant located in North Platte, Nebraska. The Cellunator milling equipment will increase the plant’s 44 million gallons per year (MGPY) of ethanol production capacity by pretreating the corn slurry to liberate additional starch. The MAAPW facility also produces three MGPY of biodiesel.
Edeniq’s Cellunator high shear equipment increases enzyme access to starch by right-sizing particles. The technology also increases production of corn oil.

In addition to installing Cellunators, MAAPW has an option to license the Pathway Technology. Edeniq’s Pathway Technology integrates Edeniq’s Cellunator equipment with cellulase enzymes to convert corn kernel fiber to cellulosic ethanol. The Pathway Technology utilizes existing fermentation and distillation equipment to produce up to 2.5% cellulosic ethanol and a 7% increase in overall ethanol yield.
Edeniq is the leader in developing analytical methods to quantify cellulosic ethanol co-produced with conventional ethanol during fermentation, which is required to access regulatory value including D3 Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs).
