ORANGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Village Nurseries Wholesale, a specialty grower for landscape professionals, has donated a substantial collection of trees and plants to create the backyard setting for Season 7 of Nick Federoff’s ‘Things Green’ gardening show scheduled to begin airing on Los Angeles’ only PBS television station, KLCS-TV 58, on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 9AM.
“What makes season seven so special for us is that we did something we've never done before. We filmed the whole series, you got it, in seven days,” explained Federoff, the host of ‘Things Green.’ “And, typically we are in the field filming the show but this time we partnered with the green industry’s cutting edge companies and built a spectacular indoor TV set. Village Nurseries, for instance, saw our vision of creating the perfect backyard setting and donated all of the full grown trees to the hundreds of number five and one sized containers. The TV set turned out beyond beautiful!”
‘Things Green’ is a hands-on, how-to gardening show. Each program is packed with information and ideas for the beginning and seasoned gardener. Federoff added, “Once you get your materials together nearly all of the garden crafts, tips and tricks we share can be done in the amount of time we actually do them on television. And, since family friendly gardening is paramount to the show you can easily engage children, too.”
“The donations are in keeping with our ongoing commitment to promote tree and shrub material installations for sustainable landscapes, especially during the current California drought,” noted Village Nurseries’ CEO David House.
A special feature incorporated into the series is “Stop and Smell the Roses” where Federoff takes a few minutes at the end of the show to highlight topical subjects with doctors, plant specialists and industry professionals; Suzie Wiest, regional marketing rep and new products chair for Village Nurseries, will be discussing new plant varieties on the April 2nd episode.
Federoff has been a staple media garden expert in southern California since 1988. He is the only radio/TV garden communicator ever inducted into the Green Industry Hall of Fame and is a 2015 recipient of a 36th Annual Telly Award honoring outstanding television programming.
Things Green on KLCS-TV is broadcast on Channel 58 every Saturday at 9AM. The program also airs on the following PBS stations: Redding, CA, KIXE; American Samoa, KVSK; New Orleans, WLAE; San Francisco, KQED; Muncie, IN, WIPB; Guam, KGTF.
