LAS VEGAS--()--Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) and LG Electronics (LGEAF) today announced that the LG® 2016 OLED TVs and the company’s flagship Super UHD TVs will feature Dolby Vision™ technology. Consumers will have access to UHD Dolby Vision mastered content via digital retailers and the world’s leading Internet TV network, Netflix®. Dolby, LG, and Netflix combine amazing content with cutting-edge imaging and a global footprint to deliver a premium viewing experience to consumers.

Dolby Vision combines two powerful capabilities—high dynamic range (HDR) and wide color gamut—resulting in astonishing images that, compared to standard pictures, deliver brighter highlights, more light-to-dark contrast, and colors never before seen on TV.

LG’s OLED TV, because of its deeper black levels and infinite contrast ratio, is capable of delivering a superb premium HDR experience even at lower peak-brightness levels. Additionally, with its premium Super UHD TVs’ ability to offer superior picture quality with Dolby Vision technology, LG is reaching a new level in offering consumers the best TV-viewing experience. LG’s 2016 OLED TVs, including 77-, 65-, and 55-inch 4K HDR OLED TV sets (models 77/65 G6 LG Signature OLED TV and 65/55 E6) and LG’s UH9500, UH8500 and UH7700 Super UHD TVs will all be equipped with Dolby Vision technology.

From content creation to distribution and playback, Dolby Vision has support from everyone from A-list Hollywood directors and executives at major studios to OTT service providers and TV manufacturers worldwide.

Nearly 50 Hollywood movie titles have been released in Dolby Vision in the cinema and in the home combined. Netflix will utilize Dolby Vision to deliver compelling viewing experiences for select Netflix titles, starting with Marco Polo, with plans to eventually offer the Marvel series as well. All major Hollywood studios support Dolby Vision for cinema releases; and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios have already announced a commitment to deliver Dolby Vision content for home distribution. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment 4K Ultra HD Dolby Vision titles are available to consumers via popular video on-demand streaming service, VUDU®.

“We are thrilled to work with Dolby to incorporate Dolby Vision technology into our OLED TV line-up, enabling us to deliver unparalleled picture quality for a superior TV viewing experience. With Dolby Vision, we’re finally able to push the limits of contrast ratios and color gamut while redefining the picture quality of LG TVs,” said Brian Kwon, Executive Vice President and CEO, LG Home Entertainment Company. “We’re equally proud to be the first manufacturer to make high-dynamic-range television available at a variety of prices through our premium LCD TV lineup.”

“Dolby Vision transforms the television experience and when people see it, they’re blown away,” said Kevin Yeaman, President and CEO, Dolby Laboratories. “Through our partnership with LG, we’re able to expand the reach of this revolutionary technology to a global audience.”

"The combination of LG’s OLED screens and Dolby Vision enables Netflix to deliver the most exciting and visually stunning experience possible in homes today," said Neil Hunt, Chief Product Officer, Netflix. "We look forward to leveraging the potential of Dolby Vision across a growing number of titles over the coming years.”
