SHANGHAI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Valuetang Group, an Asia-based investment service agency, released ”China Sino-Foreign Joint-Ventures Survey Report,” which looks at the over 500 major Sino-Foreign Joint-Ventures established in the past three decades in China. The report is based on a survey of 652 senior executives, joint venture employees, consultants, former staffs and regional government officials, with in-depth interviews with key persons from the Chinese side and the foreign side and desk research.
As the world’s second largest economy with an annual GDP growth rate of 7%, China is now the world’s largest and most attractive destination for foreign direct investment. Thousands of multinational companies have entered this market via greenfield investment, joint ventures and acquisition since the 1980s. It has been thirty years since the first JVs were established. By far, there are approximately 200,000 Sino-foreign joint venture companies in China.
”Thirty years ago, multinational corporations undertook joint ventures with the local companies (mostly the large state-owned enterprises) that appeared to be safe bets because of their powerful influence on the local or central governments. Now many multinational corporations consider the joint-venture approach as a significant market entry strategy because of the Chinese partners’ existing market or brand advantages. We learnt that over 80% of the survey participants thought joint ventures bring mutual benefits to all the shareholders,” said Paul Simmons, Director of Survey and Research at Valuetang. ”Many multinational companies are looking for joint venture opportunities in collaborating with Chinese partners; we expect more joint ventures will be formed in China.”
