Cynthia Rowley’s Fashions Move from the Runway to the Office

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill.--()--An expanding line of wildly successful office products is bringing fashion designer Cynthia Rowley’s signature style to offices everywhere through a long-term partnership with and its parent company, Staples.

In just seven months, has sold more than 1.5 million reams of Cynthia Rowley Copy Paper to offices all over America. Those sales rank among the top 10 items at the billion-dollar online retailer, and they inspired a new design that’s debuting on this month. It’s the first of several new Rowley designs that will be rolling out to and Staples later in 2015 and early in 2016.

The everyday-priced paper comes wrapped in bold, floral enhanced reams, which ship in vibrantly patterned, shrink-wrapped cartons that are intended to become semi-permanent additions to office décor. Producing the cartons required the invention of three new manufacturing processes, resulting not only in deeper and brighter colors, but also in a product durable enough to remain a workplace perennial.

“We’re turning something completely functional into a stylish source of everyday delight,” said Paul Bessinger, director of innovation at “Our strategy was to take advantage of the customer interest in more stylized products in the office, and the success we’re seeing shows that’s what is happening.”

The roots of the successful partnership date to the summer of 2014. The designer, whose work has been featured everywhere from the runways of New York to the aisles of big-box retailers, leapt at the chance to offer her unique designs to the workplace.

“Throughout my career, I’ve brought style to arenas you wouldn’t expect it, and no one expects it at the office,” said Rowley. “It’s thrilling to think we’re changing that.”
