BRUSSELS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Adding to previous calls’ engagements, a total of approximately 270M€ European and national grants have been awarded to proposals with total eligible costs of about 650 M€ arising from the ECSEL Joint Undertaking (JU) Calls in 2015, as decided by the Public Authorities Board of the JU, composed of representatives of the ECSEL Participating States together with the European Commission.
The project consortia will provide “smart” solutions in mobility, energy, health and other societal and industrial applications, relying on innovative cyber-physical systems, integrating embedded software and electronic components, and advancing the state of the art in design and manufacturing capabilities.

The proposals selected for funding address both research and innovation actions (RIA – 8 projects) and innovation actions (IA – 5 projects), differing through their Technology Readiness Levels (TRL).

The “Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership” (ECSEL) is a Joint Undertaking established by the Council Regulation (EU) No 561/2014 that entered into power on 27 June 2014. The ECSEL JU receives funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
