SEATTLE--()--Redfin, the next-generation real estate brokerage, is beginning the national rollout of a newly designed yard sign. The signs will be installed in front of Redfin-listed homes for sale in Seattle, Boston, Charlotte, Maryland, Nashville, Northern Virginia, Phoenix, San Diego, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin in the next few weeks, and the rest of Redfin’s 81 cities over the next few months.

“The Redfin yard sign is an important representation of our real-world service and rapidly growing home-selling business,” said Karen Krupsaw, Redfin vice president of real estate operations. “In addition to the most popular brokerage website, we have service-obsessed real estate agents across the country who help people buy and sell homes.”

Redfin’s Lindy Kanand, the lead designer on the project, was inspired by clean, modern way-finding signs used in museums. The new design features a wash of bold red with white and grey accents. Instead of the painted wood used in most real estate yard signs, the new Redfin sign has a panel of brushed metal between two custom polymer panels.

“We loved the challenge of creating a sign that would be eye catching and beautiful, but still meet the functional needs of the business,” said Ms. Kanand. “This is a sign our Redfin listing clients will be thrilled to have on their front lawns.”

The new sign is lighter, more durable and easier to store and transport than the previous design.

Redfin was founded in Seattle in 2006 with the mission to redefine real estate for customers, and has steadily expanded to 81 major U.S. cities. The Redfin model is different from traditional brokerages in how it combines advanced technology with full-service agents who are paid a salary, receive benefits and earn bonuses based on customer satisfaction. All reviews for Redfin agents are published on their online profiles.

Redfin agents charge a 1.5 percent listing fee for sellers, rather than the typical 3 percent, while providing full service at every step. The Redfin website and digital marketing tools reach more buyers than any other brokerage, and homes listed with Redfin sell for an average of $5,100 more than similar homes nearby. In addition to the newly designed yard sign, every Redfin listing customer receives:

  • Professional Photography: Shot by a trained photographer with a DSLR camera
  • 3D Walkthrough: An interactive and immersive online viewing experience
  • Home Dashboard: A comprehensive online resource for home sellers that provides real-time data about their home
  • Custom digital marketing: Reaches the most interested buyers and attracts new viewers
