CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hightail™ today unveiled new mobile apps for iPhones and Android smartphones that puts Hightail’s new Spaces™ feature into the palms of creative professionals on the go for easy review, feedback, and collaboration on visual files. Built for Web designers, ad agencies, filmmakers, marketers or any creative team, these new mobile apps simplify creative projects from start to completion by unifying the feedback and review process – which is usually an endless cycle of emails, attachments, cloud links, and IM messages – into a single, organized place.
“The problems we are solving with Hightail are even more pronounced on mobile, particularly for users who are trying to review, comment or approve visual files,” said Ranjith Kumaran, Founder and CEO of Hightail. “We’re particularly proud of our patent pending feature called Zipline™, which provides instant context to comments by zooming in on the precise area that a comment is referencing. This is critical if you’re managing feedback on visual files from a mobile device.”
Evolving the cloud beyond simple file storage and sharing, these new apps for iPhone and Android are a seamless extension of Hightail’s creative collaboration platform on desktop, providing rich, contextual feedback on any creative project, and allowing teammates or clients to comment directly on pictures, graphical assets, streaming videos, and more. On mobile devices, users can leave feedback on a picture, image, or any other visual files with a simple tap. When the user taps, a portion of the image will be highlighted, and that highlight can be resized or moved via multi-touch gestures so that comments can be made about specific visual elements.
In addition to uploading files directly from Hightail or from their device’s photo library, users can connect to 3rd-party services for easy uploading of files into a Space. To import files from their email, users simply forward an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and a Space containing the email’s attachments will be created automatically. Users can also connect their Dropbox account to Spaces and choose which files or attachments they want to import from an easy-to-use file picker. Staying true to Hightail’s roots, Spaces users can also send files of any size to recipients.
Once files are uploaded to a Space, users can share them with their team and start to collect feedback. Feedback is collected directly inline, and collaborators can easily highlight a specific area of a picture or video using a simple “click and drag”. Once the commenter leaves feedback, the other project collaborators get a linked notification via email that, when clicked, takes them directly to the highlighted portion of the file or, in the case of video, directly to the timestamp.
