NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TodayTix, the first and only mobile app that provides access to the best prices on last-minute theater tickets, announced today a partnership with SHN’s Orpheum Theatre and Golden Gate Theatre to offer the first-ever mobile lottery for theater tickets in the San Francisco Bay Area.
As part of an unprecedented mobile access program, Bay Area theatergoers will be able to buy discounted mobile lottery tickets with the TodayTix app to see Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel in San Francisco’s run of IF/THEN. The lottery will open on November 12th and continue until the show ends on December 6th.
TodayTix launched on the West Coast in September 2015 with discounted and full-price tickets available to a bevy of Bay Area shows such as Pulitzer-Prize winning “Between Riverside and Crazy” at the American Conservatory Theater. Now, just over a month later, TodayTix has partnered with SHN to be the first theater company in San Francisco to provide access to mobile lottery tickets. Orchestra tickets to see IF/THEN are priced from $180 dollars, but with TodayTix, users have access to a limited offering of same-day tickets to see the show at $25 dollars.
“SHN has embraced our commitment to reaching new audiences and expanding access to theater using the best in mobile technology,” said Brian Fenty, Co-Founder and Chairman of TodayTix. “As the tech capital of the world and the third largest theater market in the U.S., there’s no better place than the Bay Area to bring mobile-savvy customers digital lottery access to this star-studded Broadway sensation.”
TodayTix’s mobile lottery has been available in major cities from New York to London, and has experienced huge success in building excitement around new shows with its ability to reach new demographics. With a user base that attends more theater annually and is 12 years younger than the average theatergoer, TodayTix has a proven track record of enhancing the accessibility of the theater to the millennial audience and creating a social revamp of the industry. By going digital, TodayTix is ushering in a new wave of theater fans to IF/THEN’s run in San Francisco and building social buzz around the musical’s tour.
“The TodayTix app fits perfectly with our objective of reaching existing and new audiences where they live – on their phones,” said Scott Kane, CMO of SHN. “Thanks to the mobile lottery for IF/THEN, SHN audiences can get access to $25 tickets to see Idina Menzel in about 30 seconds. This purchasing model creates an entirely new marketing opportunity for all of our productions, and we’re excited to see the results.”
TodayTix provides customers with a simple, easy, and fast-tracked process for buying tickets to the nation’s most celebrated global productions in major cities around the world. TodayTix users can enter this exclusive mobile lottery beginning at midnight on the day of each performance, with a process that takes 30 seconds or less to enter. Users can enter the lottery in-app to win up to two tickets, and by sharing their entry via Facebook or Twitter users can double or triple their odds of scoring last-minute seats.
