TORRANCE, Calif.--()--When faculty members of the University of Georgia, Athens (UGA), College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, recognized the need for their county extension agents to gain more experience in hay and forage production, they asked Kubota Tractor Corporation to provide the equipment expertise.

As a result, Kubota provided hay product experts from its training division, “Kubota University,” to help UGA on their workshop, “Producing High Quality Hay and Improving Animal Performance,” which provides in-depth hay production training to a number of county extension agents.

During the workshop Brent Miller, Kubota service trainer, Jason Roberts, Kubota Southeast Division hay service representative, and Justin Ferguson, Kubota hay business development manager, explained the operation and function of four Kubota hay products to the group of agents. Following the product presentations, each product was demonstrated in a hay field to show the group how to cut, dry and bale quality hay using Kubota tractors and hay equipment.

“Kubota is proud to work with UGA on this workshop as it proved to be very informative for the agents regardless of their experience and knowledge prior to attending,” said Kevin Cobb, senior product training manager for Kubota. “Farmers often seek the expertise of their county extension service within their state as a principal resource for research and knowledge, so this was also a great way for Kubota to help farmers by training agents.”

Kubota University provides training on a wide variety of agricultural, construction and turf topics for Kubota dealers, employees, students and organizations. The goal of Kubota University is to enhance equipment knowledge, safety and efficiency through hands-on experience and expert instruction.

“I sincerely thank the team at Kubota for their outstanding assistance with this event,” said Dennis W. Hancock, PhD., University of Georgia associate professor and state extension specialist. “Kubota invested a lot in us, and we are very appreciative of that. I felt it was one of the best trainings I’ve ever had the opportunity to put on, and the only problem is how I raise the bar for the next one!”
