LOS ALTOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Beepi, Inc., the national marketplace to buy and sell cars online, today announced three key additions to its executive leadership team. Robert Cameron, formerly SVP global marketing at LVMH Moët Hennessy, has been named Beepi’s Chief Marketing Officer. In addition, Scott Darling, who formerly worked as general counsel at online and technology companies such as Trulia and Microsoft, has joined as Beepi’s Chief Legal Officer, and Fei Xiao, previously a principal data scientist at @WalmartLabs, became the head of data science.
“Successfully disrupting the antiquated pre-owned car industry takes a deep understanding of consumer behavior and complex regulatory issues,” said Ale Resnik, Beepi’s CEO and Co-founder. “I’m thrilled to work closely with Robert, Scott and Fei as we continue our rapid national expansion to meet growing demand.”
Robert Cameron, Chief Marketing Officer
Cameron brings to the team a wealth of experience in brand building and experiential marketing. He has spent much of his 20-year career engaging millennial audiences and building brand-loyal communities. Most recently, he energized the Hennessy portfolio and reshaped the brand’s perception among young consumers.
“Beepi is at such an exciting time in its brand life,” Cameron said. “At only 18 months old, the company has seen tremendous market impact and truly solves a consumer pain point: buying and selling a used car. I look forward to working closely with the Beepi leadership team as the company grows – especially as it relates to expanding the company’s footprint globally.”
Prior to LVMH, Cameron was CMO of Pac Sun and VP of global marketing for Levis, where he was responsible for the breakthrough “Go Forth” campaign. He also co-founded Fantascope, Inc., a global brand development consultancy with clients including MTV, M&M’s/Mars and Warner Bros. Cameron studied at Brown University.
Scott Darling, Chief Legal Officer
Darling has been helping to lead fast-growing technology companies in Silicon Valley for more than 15 years. As general counsel, Darling guided Trulia, an online residential real estate company, through a successful initial public offering in September 2012 and its subsequent $2.5 billion acquisition by competitor Zillow in February 2015. He was honored as a finalist for the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s award for best legal counsel in the Bay Area in 2013.
“I see tremendous potential for Beepi to revolutionize the car selling and buying experience,” said Darling. “Beepi’s business model puts consumers first and alleviates a lot of the stress and hassle associated with buying and selling a car. I’m excited to help the company advance its vision and set a new precedent for customer protections, transparency and trust.”
Prior to Trulia, Darling was general counsel for Imperva, a cybersecurity firm. Before that, Darling was a senior attorney at Microsoft after the software industry giant acquired Danger, Inc., where he also served as general counsel. Darling studied law at University of Michigan Law School and has a BA from Yale University.
Fei Xiao, Head of Data Science
Xiao is an accomplished software engineer with several patents in the areas of Machine Learning for shopping, ranking and customer acquisition. He served as a senior software engineer at LinkedIn prior to joining WalmartLabs in 2014 and worked as an engineer at Google for five years. While at Google, Xiao created a fraud detection model that won the Google Innovation in Duplicate Detection Award. He has a Ph.D. in computer science from the National University of Singapore.
“I’m excited by the types of problems we’re solving at Beepi,” said Xiao. “I believe buying a pre-owned car instead of new car will help save the environment and make the world a better place. I’m looking forward to taking a data-driven approach to create the best experience for people looking to do this.”
Cameron, Darling and Xiao join the Beepi team along with several new employees, including specialists in business development, marketing and communications and engineering. They will be based in the company’s Los Altos, California headquarters.
