KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Albert Zaranka answered his first phone call after a recent move back to New York from North Carolina to find out that he and his wife, Ellen, are the lucky winners of the DIY Network® Blog Cabin GiveawayTM 2015. A teacher and pianist, Zaranka was randomly drawn from more than 23 million entries to win the grand-prize package valued at almost $900,000.
The modern-style mountain retreat in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was rebuilt from the ground up and redesigned to make the most of the spectacular views. Designed with multiple decks, patios and balconies, plus a two-story wall of windows, the home selections were made interactively by visitors to DIYNetwork.com/blogcabin, who voted on all aspects of the renovation, from flooring and cabinets to window treatments.
“My first reaction to being told that I had won was tears of joy,” remarked Zaranka. “Then, once it sank in, I started to figure out where we’d put the piano. We can’t wait to see the home in-person. While I watched every video, it’s going to be better to see it in real life.”
DIY Network ventured west to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho this year for its ninth season of Blog Cabin®, the first-ever interactive home-building series based on a very simple idea: "You Design It, We Build It, You Could Win It!" The home features a long, single-sloped roof line, exposed laminate beams and concrete walls. Fire elements give the home charm during the winter and a large balcony with sliding doors opens the home to the beautiful northwest summer -- Blog Cabin 2015 is the perfect year-round sanctuary.
