NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AVON 39, The Walk to End Breast Cancer, events are held each year in Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, Santa Barbara, San Francisco and Washington D.C. The events occur between April- October, rain or shine. The number 39 represents the length of a marathon and a half- the distance the walkers will traverse during the two-day event. Since 2003 over 207,000 participants have walked 6,868,000 miles and raised over $550 million.
This past weekend 3,500 walkers participated in the AVON 39 event in New York City, raising $8.7 million! FGI's Jimena Sachdev carried the torch for their team. She doubled her mileage by running 78.6 miles in two days and crushed her original fundraising goal of $5k by raising over $18,000. Jimena's husband and daughter supported her during the two days, driving by her side, cheering her all the way to the finish line.
