BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SEA-VR LLC and the City of Bellevue are proud to announce the second annual SEA-VR 2015, the Northwest’s premier conference and expo showcasing the best of the virtual, augmented and mixed reality industry. The one-day event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.
The day will kick-off with a keynote presentation by scientist and New York Times best-selling science fiction author David Brin (Existence, The Postman) with a session entitled: “A (virtual) world where everyone knows your name: Can we stay human and free, when a ‘village’ spans the globe?” Other speakers include Second Life and High Fidelity founder Philip Rosedale, the “grandfather of VR/AR” and University of Washington professor Dr. Tom Furness, Aaron Frank of Singularity University, Nick Whiting of Epic Games and Pete Moss of Unity. Presentations will provide a comprehensive overview of the immersive technologies space, and offer insight into the present and future business and entertainment applications that we can expect to see in the next five to ten years.
The expo floor will include more than 40 exhibits and demonstrations by some of the key players in the industry including Envelop VR, Google Cardboard, AltSpace VR and Ximmerse, among others. Participants who visit the Google booth will receive a free Google Cardboard, and all of the latest hardware, software, content and accessories will be available to try out and experience firsthand.
Attendees will also have the chance to see early stage startups pitch live onstage to Venture Capital firms Madrona Venture Group and Vulcan Capital. The winning start-up will receive an in-person meeting with one or both of the firms. Virtual Reality start-ups interested in participating still have until October 9th to apply to be a part of the Shark Tank at www.seavr2015.com.
