TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Europe’s largest independent fleet management provider, Fleet Logistics, has entered into a strategic partnership with North America-based AlertDriving to offer a range of online driver training and risk assessment services for fleet operators of all sizes.
Fleet Logistics, which has around 157,000 vehicles under management across 26 countries, ultimately partnered with AlertDriving for its global training coverage, having reached more than 2 million drivers in over 100 languages—and also following recommendations from existing users, including fleet customers.
The move has been driven by a desire to help Fleet Logistics’ clients meet their duty of care obligations to their drivers, as well as improving driver safety and ultimately reducing fleet spend through lower repair and accident management costs.
The new e-learning initiative has four key objectives: to reduce collisions, to reduce personal injuries, to reduce operating costs and to reduce liability exposure.
Toronto-based AlertDriving pioneered online driver risk management in North America and has since expanded to more than 70 countries across the world—primarily through its trademark FleetDefenseSM suite of driver training solutions, which test drivers for dangerous behaviours and attitudes.
The results provide fleet managers and other company decision-makers with behavior-based metrics and standardized risk reporting to help monitor their overall fleet risk exposure, and to identify areas in which remedial intervention needs to be taken to improve driving standards.
Over 30 high-impact driver training modules will be offered through the new partnership, with courses on eco-driving, lane discipline, winter driving, safer parking, reversing, and much more. AlertDriving’s broad courseware library—the largest in the driver risk management industry—will enable fleet customers to decide what level and frequency of testing is appropriate for their fleet.
Since the program is available to any driver connected to the Internet, users can simply log onto a dedicated portal customized for their country and language, and start training whenever they want, safely. For example, German drivers will be able to see online assessments using road conditions typical to Germany, with German road signs and speed limits.
Fleet managers will be able to identify those drivers which pass the online risk assessment tasks and limit those that fail from ordering new cars, until they have reached a satisfactory standard of achievement.
This approach will be made available in all of the countries that Fleet Logistics currently operates in throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.
The company is currently working on the implementation of the new solution following pilot testing with a number of selected fleets, before a wider roll-out to all clients later this autumn.
Thorsten Bertram, Fleet Logistics’ Group Director of International Customer Relations, who has been leading the project, said that the new driver risk management solutions would help companies meet their duty of care obligations to their drivers by identifying those most at risk based on their driving behavior.
“This new initiative is very much in line with the mission statement of our parent, TÜV SÜD, which is to create increased safety and added economic value through the optimization of technology, systems and expertise.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide our customers, both existing and new, with this added-value service that will help them improve driver safety through the identification of adverse driver behaviors.
“The new suite of solutions will be available in the coming months and will be customized to meet the needs of fleet decision-makers in their local markets. It will go a long way to helping companies meet their duty of care requirements,” he said.
Rob Martin, Vice President of Sales at AlertDriving, commented: “Available in over 100 languages, FleetDefenseSM will support the expansion of Fleet Logistics’ car fleet and driver management tools to more markets - all from one simple, centrally managed location.
“Since FleetDefenseSM training is localized for 90% of the world, it can help standardize the risk reporting process where gaps appear in accident and violation data.
“As any manager knows, a driver’s decision-making process is difficult to capture with data. Standardized driver testing shines much-needed transparency. When scores dip, fleet managers can easily assign courses to any business unit or region showing increased risk to address the situation.”
With 2.3 million drivers trained, AlertDriving has helped more global fleets than any other vendor to identify, mitigate and monitor their risk exposure. FleetDefenseSM, the company’s driver risk management suite, combines training in over 100 languages with built-in metrics giving fleets standardized risk reporting anywhere in the world.
