CALIENT To Showcase S-Series Optical Circuit Switch and New SD-WAN Application at IIR Next Generation Optical Networking Conference

320- and 160-port Optical Circuit Switches Enable Accelerated Deployment of SDN Across Multi-Vendor, Multi-Domain and Legacy Optical WAN Transport Networks; CALIENT Will Also Participate on a Panel with Industry Experts on Data Center Interconnect (DCI)

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--()--CALIENT Technologies, Inc., the global leader in Optical Circuit Switching technology, today announced it will exhibit and present at the upcoming IIR Next Generation Optical Networking Conference to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dallas, Texas, on Oct. 5-7.

At the event, CALIENT will showcase its S-Series Optical Circuit Switches that are being deployed in very high volumes in web-scale data center optical networks to deliver improved utilization of expensive compute and storage resources.

Also on display will be the recently announced SD-WAN application that allows service providers to accelerate deployment of software-defined networking (SDN) across the WAN regardless of the vendor or vintage of the transport system deployed.

David Altstaetter, CALIENT’s Senior Director of PLM and Solutions, will present on a panel of industry leaders from Microsoft, Equinix, and TeliaSonera on data center interconnect (DCI), titled: “DCI – Enabling Seamless Connectivity between Data Centers.”

CALIENT S-Series Optical Circuit Switches

CALIENT builds the highest port density Optical Circuit Switches (OCS) in the networking industry. The S-Series includes the S320, a 320-port OCS and the S-160, a 160-port OCS. The switches allow any-to-any network connections with almost no latency and can be reconfigured on demand through network management or SDN controllers via a range of standard APIs. Small form factor, extremely low power consumption, almost unlimited scalability, and Telcordia-grade reliability make the CALIENT switches ideal for a range of data center and service provider applications.

About CALIENT Technologies, Inc.

CALIENT Technologies is the global leader in pure photonic Optical Circuit Switching with systems that enable dynamic optical layer optimization in next generation data centers and software defined networks. CALIENT’s 3D MEMS switches allow data center operators to dramatically improve utilization rates of expensive compute resources that typically account for 75 percent to 90 percent of investment. Data center operators and metro service providers also deploy CALIENT switches to offload large, highly persistent data flows from packet networks to optical circuit switched networks within and between data centers, delivering light speed express path connectivity between compute resources with virtually no latency. The company designs and builds its systems using its own state-of-the-art MEMS fab facility located at its corporate headquarters in Santa Barbara, California.
