BRIDGEWATER, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Brother International Corporation is proud to announce Gustavo Villalobos, of San Diego, California, as the winner of its “Brother Loves Fashion” Sweepstakes. The contest called on aspiring fashion designers from across America to submit a photo of their dream design, along with a sketch and a brief description of the project, for a chance to win a free trip to New York City during Fashion Week to meet Project Runway All Stars alumni Anthony Ryan and Joshua McKinley. Gustavo will also attend the taping of the Project Runway season finale.
Gustavo is a 25 year old fashion design student who has displayed a passion for art and design from an early age. He attends San Diego’s Mesa College Fashion Program, where, last year, he was awarded school’s Golden Scissors award. He credits his teachers and family for instilling the confidence to pursue a career in fashion design. Gustavo describes his winning pencil skirt design as “classic, with a futuristic twist” and explains that it’s a pattern he’s been toying with, off and on, for a while now.
For Fashion Week, Gustavo will travel to New York as part of an all-expense paid trip where he will:
- Spend an afternoon at Mood, Project Runway’s source store, where he’ll bring his contest winning dress design to life with the able assistance of Ryan and McKinley.
- Attend the taping of the Project Runway season finale
- Dine and have a night on the town with Project Runway’s Anthony Ryan and Joshua McKinley to discuss fashion and his own winning design
As part of his winnings, Gustavo will also receive the Brother Limited Edition Project Runway Innov-ís NQ1300PRW sewing and quilting machine so he can readily continue his career aspirations in fashion. “I can’t thank Brother enough. This is a dream come true and a once in a lifetime opportunity that I will be forever grateful for.”
