SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CuVerro® is sponsoring a national workshop to bring together forward-thinking healthcare organizations, architects, designers, and industry leaders in a quest to make healthcare surfaces safer and healthier.
Backed by the Center for Health Design, the “High Touch Surfaces – A Systems Based Approach to Improved Healthcare Hygiene” workshop will be held in Chicago, September 9-10.
Discussions are expected to focus on integrating design, policies and protocols, compliance, and behavior into a systems-based approach to improve infection control in the healthcare environment, where traditional cleaning measures have been found to be inadequate on their own.
Participants will hear from key thought leaders including Linda Dickey, RN, MPH, CIC, Director of Epidemiology & Infection Prevention at the University of California Irvine Medical Center; Linda Lybert, President of Healthcare Surface Consulting; and Michael Schmidt, PhD, Professor and Vice Chairman of Microbiology and Immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina.
“Infection control considerations play a critical role in healthcare design and construction projects,” says Kon John, CuVerro National Sales Director. “CuVerro is thrilled to be sponsoring this important workshop that is focused on taking the next step to make healthcare environments cleaner.”
CuVerro® is an EPA-registered bactericidal solid copper alloy that can be used on high-touch surfaces in healthcare environments to kill 99.9% of infectious bacteria* within two hours of contact, when cleaned regularly.

*Laboratory testing shows that, when cleaned regularly, CuVerro surfaces kill greater than 99.9% of the following bacteria within 2 hours of exposure: Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli O157:H7, and Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecalis (VRE).The use of CuVerro® bactericidal copper products is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices; users must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those practices related to cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces. This surface has been shown to reduce microbial contamination, but it does not necessarily prevent cross contamination.
