Research and Markets: Global HUD Market in Military Aviation to Grow at a CAGR of 3.79%, in Terms of Unit Shipment, over the Period 2014-2019, New Report Says

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/vnxgck/global_headsup) has announced the addition of the "Global Heads-up Display Market in Military Aviation 2015-2019" report to their offering.

As the penetration rate of HUD in military aviation is high, manufacturers are developing ways to differentiate their products from their competitors. For instance, in 2011, Saab and Samtel Display System developed the RIGS head-up display in India, which is lightweight, cost-effective, and can be easily installed in helicopters. In 2012, Esterline Technologies introduced digital HUDs for combat and ISR aircraft, which deploy solid-state display with a 28-degree field of view. BAE Systems showcased its digital light engine head-up display at the 2013 Seoul ADEX, which is specifically designed for helicopters involved in mission critical operations. In 2014, they introduced LiteHUD, which is 85% smaller than existing HUDs and uses waveguide optical technology. In the same year, Elbit Systems launched SKYLENS, a wearable HUD for commercial and military aviation.

According to the report, the defense budgets of various countries in APAC such as China and India, and the Middle East, are expected to rise because of an increase in military modernization programs, and the growing tension across borders and with other countries.

For the period 2014-2015, India and China have announced their defense budgets of $38.35 billion and $132 billion, respectively. Both countries are planning to increase their defense forces. For instance, India is adopting military modernization programs to upgrade and repair its Cold War-era equipment and vehicles. India is also planning to invest $20 billion to buy approximately 130 Dassault Rafale fighter jets and new helicopters to strengthen the country's air force. This will increase the fitment rate of HUDs in new aircraft, thus driving the growth of the market.
