U.S. Chamber Commends U.S. District Court Scrutiny of FDA Enforcement Actions

WASHINGTON--()--Lisa A. Rickard, president of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR), made the following statement today about the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York’s preliminary injunction against the Food and Drug Administration’s enforcement actions targeting a company’s free speech about its products:

“We are encouraged that the federal courts are taking a more critical assessment of the federal government’s enforcement activities that have been propelled by overly expansive theories of liability. This is the latest in a series of rulings that show the government has taken its enforcement actions too far.”

ILR seeks to promote civil justice reform through legislative, political, judicial, and educational activities at the national, state, and local levels.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
