Kentucky Department of Education Adopts HMB’s Custom Grants Management System

System simplifies administration and enhances access to grants

COLUMBUS, Ohio--()--The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) recently implemented a custom grants management system created by HMB, a business technology services firm with offices in Columbus and Louisville, Kentucky.

With successful implementations at 10 other state education agencies (SEA) across the country, HMB’s eGrants system automates the entire grant life cycle for state and local education agencies. The web-based application manages improvement planning, allocation of funds, application entry, budgeting, approval, payments and various reporting functions for education grants.

“Our eGrants system allows agencies to easily, quickly and cost-effectively submit applications for any type of education grant through a consistent application interface,” said John Mamula, director of HMB’s education group. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to improve KDE’s access to grants, which will help them achieve their mission of preparing all Kentucky students for next-generation learning, work and citizenship.”

KDE is the nation’s 29th largest SEA by number of districts, with 173 school districts and 1,233 public schools, and marks HMB’s 11th national SEA implementation. The eGrants system has also been successfully implemented at SEAs in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Mississippi, Ohio, Nevada, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Utah.

The modular and scalable system is based on the Microsoft .NET framework and leverages the power of the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform to delivery unmatched reliability and productivity.
