Guidance Software Becomes Founding Member of Blue Coat Endpoint Alliance Ecosystem

Deep Endpoint Visibility Delivered by EnCase® is Crucial Element of End-to-End Security Approach

PASADENA, Calif.--()--Guidance Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: GUID), makers of EnCase®, the gold standard for digital investigations and endpoint data security, today announced it has joined the Blue Coat Alliance Ecosystem for Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) as a founding member. The ecosystem was developed with Blue Coat Systems to integrate security intelligence from the Blue Coat security portfolio with EnCase® Endpoint Security from Guidance Software and complementary technologies for a more comprehensive approach to information security and incident response.

“Because so much sensitive data now lives on an organization’s network endpoints—such as laptops, servers, and point-of-sale devices—data security approaches must include more than network traffic analysis and antivirus,” said Anthony Di Bello, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Guidance Software. “The Blue Coat Endpoint Alliance Ecosystem standardizes the integration of vital pieces of security intelligence from all important control points, and we’re very pleased to be expanding our ongoing partnership with Blue Coat Systems within this Alliance.”

The Blue Coat Alliance Ecosystem for Endpoint Detection and Response was developed to integrate the actionable data from Blue Coat security products and complementary security products, such as EnCase Endpoint Security from Guidance Software. Benefits of the integration between Blue Coat and Guidance Software include:

  • Better Malware Detection: Upon the detection of unrecognized malware, Blue Coat alerts its Global Intelligence Network and automatically queries EnCase Endpoint Security to understand whether the malware has morphed and spread to any endpoints, assess whether any sensitive data was impacted, and provide a consolidated report on infected endpoints for instant quarantine and faster remediation.
  • Faster Time-to-Resolution: EnCase Endpoint Security can automatically submit suspicious malware files to Blue Coat and collect contextual insight from sandboxing and security analytics technologies, speeding time to resolution.
  • Automated Incident Response and Remediation: Data from both endpoint and network are integrated to give security analysts the ability to move immediately from EnCase Endpoint Security analysis to a comprehensive record of all network activity for a more complete analysis of the situation across the network. Analysts can see the full scope, uncover root causes, and understand precisely what happened before, during, and after a security event, then move to rapidly remediate all affected endpoints without the need to wipe and reimage.

“Enterprise network administrators dealing with BYOD, shadow IT and the Internet of Things are realizing the need for endpoint detection and response is crucial,” said Peter Doggart, vice president, business development at Blue Coat. “The endpoint is the only other place, other than the Proxy, where IT security has full visibility into what is happening within their environment. By working with leading endpoint detection and response leaders, Blue Coat is providing customers with a truly comprehensive end-to-end solution—from complete network to endpoint visibility and detection, to swift and effective incident response and remediation.”

“Customers need vital security data from every control point in their networks,” Di Bello said. “It makes perfect sense for best-of-breed solutions from Blue Coat and Guidance Software to integrate and share intelligence to grow both our businesses and help keep organizations’ intellectual assets safe.”
