In Preparation for Publisher Scaling, API Provider Pingup Adds Walt Doyle as New Chairman of the Board

BOSTON--()--Pingup, provider of the industry’s first API that enables directories, search providers and social platforms to easily add booking capabilities to business listings on mobile and desktop, today announced that Walt Doyle has been appointed as Chairman of its Board of Directors. In this role, Doyle, a local search expert, will guide the company as it systematically scales and help establish a larger engineering team in Pingup's Boston office.

“Following the launch of our API and subsequent integrations, we are experiencing a fascinating and unprecedented period of growth at the company and I am proud to welcome such an experienced industry professional as Walt Doyle to guide us as we scale," said Mark Slater, Pingup CEO. "Task completion will become ubiquitous across publishers, messaging applications and social networks, and under Walt's leadership, our API is well-positioned to drive change across the entire scheduling industry.”

Walt Doyle joins the Pingup Board of Directors as chairman with more than 20 years of experience in the emerging technology space and local digital marketing services industry. He served as general manager of PayPal Media Network, which he joined through its acquisition of WHERE, a local discovery service and mobile advertising network. Walt was a longtime CEO of WHERE from 2005 through its acquisition in 2011 for $135 million. Prior to WHERE, Doyle served executive level positions at MapQuest, Net2Phone, ZDnet/CNET and Dow Jones. “I am hugely excited at the unique plug and play API integration the Pingup team has built and am privileged to be joining the organization as Chairman" said Mr. Doyle. "Pingup has the opportunity to occupy a highly coveted spot in the Local On-Demand Economy and I look forward to helping them get there.”
