WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Eisenhower Memorial Commission (EMC) today announced that David Keene, opinion editor of the Washington Times, has joined the Commission’s Advisory Committee. The committee consists of a number of distinguished Americans, all of whom are dedicated to ensuring that the National Eisenhower Memorial is constructed in Washington, DC. Committee members include Senator Bob Dole; television journalist and author Tom Brokaw; former Secretary of State George Shultz; and President of the American Conservative Union Matt Schlapp. The committee is Co-Chaired by former Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and past Chairman of the America Battle Monuments Commission, General P.X. Kelley, USMC (Ret.), and former head of the Republican National Committee, Frank Fahrenkopf.
Known as a leading voice of American conservatism, Mr. Keene has served as an advisor to Presidents, elected officials, and political candidates, including: Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, and presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Bob Dole. Keene is a highly-respected author, columnist and national television commentator. In addition, Mr. Keene has served as President of the National Rifle Association and Chairman of the American Conservative Union (ACU). While at the ACU, Keene was credited with growing the organization’s yearly Conservative Political Action Conference into a highly-anticipated and respected gathering of conservative voices.
