MobileDay Conference Call Dial-In App Reaches 10 Million Call Milestone

Company data shows significant increase and prevalence of mobile conference calls; enterprise users constituting more than 68 percent of all calls

BOULDER, Colo.--()--MobileDay, creator of the one-tap conference call dialing app, announced today that its core user base has now made over 10 million calls using the MobileDay app. In the first half of 2015 alone, more than 2 million mobile calls have been made using MobileDay with 71 percent of all calls coming from users at companies with more than $1 billion in revenue.

Following a huge surge in the number of conference calls placed on the app in 2014, MobileDay’s 10 million call milestone illustrates the increasing prevalence of utilizing mobile devices for conference calls and virtual meetings.

According to a recent report from analyst firm Ovum, employees are scheduling more meetings than ever, with 91 percent of survey respondents confirming the number of meetings they attend are either static or increasing. As a growing percentage of these meetings are held virtually, significantly more calls are now held via mobile devices. The data clearly indicates that conference calls are on the rise, and more employees are using mobile devices to connect to them.

A breakdown of MobileDay’s app usage in 2015 supports Ovum’s findings and illustrates a significant trend in workforce communications. Specifically, this trend is prolific among particular occupations, industries, job levels and companies of a certain size:

  • 64 percent of conference calls made on mobile devices came from organizations with 5,000+ employees
  • Manufacturing, business services and software are the leading conference call industries, constituting more than half of all calls from H1 2015, coming in at 36 percent, 16 percent and 10 percent respectively
  • Additionally, the healthcare and retail industries make up almost another 20 percent of calls
  • Sales departments take the lead in usage making more than 40 percent of mobile conference calls, followed by computing and IT at 17 percent
  • Also, the data shows that manager level employees make half of all mobile conference calls, which is more than twice as many as the next most frequent user title
  • Further, 20 percent of calls are coming from within the state of California

“In the course of the last 50 years, the technological landscape has continually seen shifts towards simplifying processes and making things easier to use. However, this has not been the case in the world of the conference call, at least, not until MobileDay—which radically simplifies the dial in process.” said Howard Diamond, CEO, MobileDay. “As we reach our 10 million milestone and look at the data from our callers, it is clear that as more meetings fill our calendars, more people are seeking simpler conference call solutions to remove the tedium from an increasingly ubiquitous practice.”

In understanding that busyness does not equal effectiveness, Diamond argues that by making simple changes—such as reducing the friction of dialing into a virtual meeting—businesses can become better aligned with the people they employ, and a more sustainable work culture can be achieved. Diamond believes that businesses should take measures to help their employees to work more effectively, rather than to work harder. Providing professionals with simple tools that reduce their “busy time” is a step in the right direction.

In honor of this milestone, the company is offering subscriptions to MobileDay Pro for $6.99 rather than the normal price of $14.99 through July 22. For additional information, please visit www.mobileday.com/download.
