MIDLAND, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--STW Resources Holding Corp, (OTCQB: STWS), an integrated provider of water management, including water reclamation and remediation, and oilfield services, announced today its participation in a potential desalination project for the Brazos River in Texas and the successful test of STW’s Desalinator technology.
The Company has completed a highly successful demonstration test was conducted at STW’s Midland, Texas facility on July 6, 2015 by Mr. Darrell Byrer, STW Vice President of Operations, for engineers and representatives of the client to test the efficacy of STW’s “Desalinator” technology. STW was successful in separating the high concentrations of salts from the feed water. The produced freshwater quality was in the range of 2,200 ppm TDS (Total Dissolved Solids- is a measure of the combined content of all inorganic and organic substances contained in a liquid in molecular, ionized or micro-granular and the by-product was crystal salts in conjunction with heavy solids). The test results met the client’s requirements. The next step of the project is to involve a major university laboratory for conducting another test with additional pretreatment.
STW has been asked to use its Zero Liquid Discharge technology with an advanced Flash Distillation Process for high concentrate brine to help desalinate the salt water before it enters the river. A Texas based non-profit organization, in conjunction with a major Texas university laboratory, is looking for methods to mitigate this problem in the upper Brazos by reducing high salt loading.
STW Water is involved in this project in Texas to solve an ongoing problem that authorities have been trying to solve for years. Super concentrated artesian brine springs flowing into the upper Brazos River is impacting downstream water sources of the Brazos River due to extremely high salt concentrations in the range of 316,000 ppm of total dissolved solids and 212,000 ppm of chlorides (seawater is average 34,000 ppm). The salty water mixes with the fresh water of the Brazos River resulting in the municipalities and citizens downstream being required to remove the salt before they can utilize the water.
The customer’s primary goal for this project is to use the STW “Desalinator” technology to produce fresh water for domestic consumption (and potentially industrial purposes) and provide a very pure (up to food grade) NACL salt. High purity food grade salt (99.99%) generated with an additional post treatment process will be an excellent source of revenue generation for the project. The ultimate goal of the project is to reuse freshwater recovered from the system, but in the interim, the customer plans to put the clean water back into the upper Brazos to dilute salt loading both upstream & downstream.
This project has the potential to save the downstream communities and users millions of dollars annually by not requiring them to process the river water before using it.
