JACKSON, Miss.--()--Bomgar, a leader in secure remote support and access management solutions, today announced Cook Incorporated is using Bomgar to secure and monitor vendor access to its internal systems. A manufacturer of medical devices, Cook makes 16,000 products that serve 13 hospital lines in 135 counties. Headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana, Cook Medical’s world headquarters is home to more than 2,400 employees.

To provide regulatory remediation, Cook contracted with an outside consulting company to provide documentation for regulatory submissions by utilizing data and other information within document repositories about their manufactured devices. “We needed a way for the consulting company representatives to access our networks and systems securely,” said Kyle McAninch, North American infrastructure lead with Cook. “This vendor needed a wide range of access. In the past, we would’ve typically given them general VPN access, but we wanted more control than VPN can provide. We wanted to know the exact whereabouts of vendors on our system and what was being done. We also wanted to control the times available for third-party access, so we can closely monitor what goes on.”

McAninch also noted the importance of Bomgar’s recording capabilities. “We also needed a solution that would capture video recordings, for accountability purposes. Bomgar gives us that accountability, and is a perfect fit for our specific needs.”

Currently, 20 offsite representatives are using Bomgar to access Cook’s systems. “With the large amount of devices we manufacture, this ensures that documentation is updated in real time. We like that Bomgar allows this to be a seamless, secure and accountable process,” added McAninch.

Looking ahead, McAninch says Cook is looking to expand the use of Bomgar for internal purposes as well. “Bomgar fit our unique niche for vendor access and control. In the future, we are looking to expand the use of Bomgar and resource access control to additional vendors and employees.”
