ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Frontier Communications (NASDAQ:FTR) announced today that it recently completed four separate sales with six New York counties for next-generation capable 9-1-1 communications systems. These sales are in addition to Frontier’s 9-1-1 state-of-the-art system sale to Monroe County and the City of Rochester, N.Y., in the second half of 2014.
The systems were sold to counties within and outside of Frontier’s traditional service footprint in New York, with some counties partnering on a joint purchase. The featured equipment in all sales is the Airbus DS VESTA 4 system, a state-of-the-art IP-based integrated communications system that provides full redundancy and allows call takers to set up in a mobile environment in the event of evacuation. The new systems also provide more detailed and comprehensive reporting, enabling users to better analyze call data. In addition, they are next-generation 9-1-1 ready and capable of transmitting text, data and video images to 9-1-1 centers.
The contracts include:
- Yates and Seneca counties -- Yates and Seneca counties jointly purchased the Airbus Vesta platform. Deployed in a geo-diverse fashion, one-half of the system resides respectively in each county. The connections between the two halves ensure that if there is service or emergency issues on one side, the other side of the system is designed to pick up and seamlessly handle calls.
- Chemung County and City of Elmira –The County of Chemung and the City of Elmira contracted with Frontier for the standalone geo-diverse capable Airbus Vesta 4 system upgrade and equipment maintenance.
- Fulton and Montgomery counties – Both counties in Upstate New York contracted with Frontier to share a geo-diverse Airbus Vesta 4 system that will provide full redundancy.
- Rockland County – The Rockland County purchase comprised six upgraded geo-diverse capable Airbus Vesta 9-1-1 systems deployed to the towns of Ramapo, Orangetown, Haverstraw, Spring Valley, Suffern and Stony Point. Each of these sites will also purchase INdigital’s Textty, a text-to-911 product that is the basis of much of the next-generation 9-1-1 upgrading process. The texTTY platform provides text messaging to and from 9-1-1 services via smartphones, tablets, hotspots and other text-capable devices.
