National Business Group on Health Honors Fidelity With a Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® Award

Fidelity’s Well for Life Program Recognized for Promoting Healthy Work Environment and Lifestyles

WASHINGTON--()--The National Business Group on Health (NBGH), a non-profit association of large U.S. employers, today honored Fidelity Investments for its ongoing commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy work environment and encouraging its workers and families to maintain healthy lifestyles.

Fidelity received the 2015 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award at the Leadership Summit sponsored by the National Business Group on Health’s Institute on Innovation in Workforce Well-being. The Platinum award, the categories top distinction, was given to Fidelity for its multi-faceted and innovative workplace well-being program, Well for Life, which over 41,000 Fidelity associates and their family members participate in. This marks the second consecutive year Fidelity has received the Platinum award.

“We congratulate Fidelity for being among an elite group of companies that are making a difference every day in improving the health and overall well-being of their employees and families,” said Brian Marcotte, President and CEO of the National Business Group on Health. “Fidelity and its leadership team are to be commended for their commitment to promoting healthy work environments and for their innovation in developing outstanding programs for employees that encourage good health and well-being.”

Fidelity’s Well for Life program continues to meet the National Business Group on Health’s rigorous requirements—which are updated annually—to be considered a platinum winner.

“We are honored to receive this award and believe it recognizes and celebrates our deep commitment to ensuring our colleagues and their families are living healthier lives with help from our Well for Life program,” said Jennifer Hanson, Senior Vice President for Benefits at Fidelity Investments. “Fidelity understands that each of our associates and their family members has unique needs—each person is looking for something different from their health and wellness benefits. We are always listening to their feedback and are continually monitoring the latest industry best practices. This combination ensures we’re offering new programs, and making updates to existing ones, that we know will be appreciated and successful.”

Winners of the “Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles” awards were honored in one of two categories: Platinum, for exemplary workplace well-being programs, cultures and results; or Gold, for creating cultural and environmental changes that support employees in their lifestyle and behavior changes

Fidelity’s program, Well for Life, features a number of on-site resources to make it even easier for employees to strive for health and wellness, including affordable and delicious healthy dining options, on-site fitness centers, health and wellness centers, and free health screenings.

New this year, Well for Life was enhanced to encourage stretch breaks and focus on mindfulness. Desktop and calendar reminders now help to ensure associates are making time in their days to get up to move—either through guided exercises that can be done right at a desk and during a long meeting, or by walking outside with the help of a trail map. Associates also have access to live and recorded guided meditations and related webinars. Hosted by certified wellness coaches, these programs help increase awareness of thoughts, breathing, sounds, and actions.
