Micrium Releases New Book on Designing for Medical Applications Using uC/OS-II

Book showcases practical medical applications using Micrium’s safety-certifiable RTOS kernel on Freescale’s Kinetis Platform

WESTON, Fla.--()--Micrium Inc., the premier RTOS provider for embedded systems, today announced that it will launch its latest book “uC/OS-II: The Real-Time Kernel for Freescale’s Kinetis® MCUs based on ARM® Cortex™-M4 technology” during the Freescale Technology Forum in Austin, Texas. The new book describes practical, working applications for embedded medical devices built on the uC/OS-II® RTOS kernel and Freescale®’s Kinetis K53 medical board (ARM® Cortex™-M4) using IAR development tools.

The book is written for embedded systems programmers, developers and engineers interesting in using Micrium’s RTOS kernel for medical device design. uC/OS-II is certified by TUV for IEC-62304 and has been successfully implemented in a wide array of high-level safety-critical devices, including medical FDA premarket notification (510(k)) and premarket approval devices. uC/OS-II offers a learning platform, but is also a full commercial-grade software package that serves as the foundation for a wide range of products.

Micrium will be at the Freescale Technology Forum in Austin, Texas June 22-25, 2015. The company will showcase its safety-certified uC/OS-II kernel running in a fully functioning pulse oximeter, one of the examples from the book. The device is based on Freescale’s Kinetis K53 MCUs based on ARM Cortex-M technology and leverages the highly popular Tower System development board platform.
