BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A Prom to Remember: Boston, an organization committed to providing the ultimate prom experience for teens ages 13-19 affected by cancer, will host its second annual Boston prom experience on June 21, 2015 at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common. The event, originating from The Unforgettable Prom Foundation, will invite teen patients and former patients from New England hospitals who are currently battling or have recently battled cancer.
A Prom to Remember gives these teens an opportunity to celebrate in an environment of acceptance and camaraderie. The prom is held at no cost to the teens or their families. A Prom to Remember: Boston, with the help of sponsors and donations, will cover all expenses, including luxury transportation to and from the event, dresses, tuxedos, jewelry, shoes, and hair and make-up services. As attendees arrive at The Ritz-Carlton: Boston Common, they will be escorted down the red carpet by celebrity guests and distinguished attendees.
Kennedy, from the Karson & Kennedy show on Mix 104.1, will act as emcee of the event, and the theme this year is “Come Sail Away.” A Prom to Remember: Boston will boast a DJ, buffet dinner, celebrity guests and live entertainment throughout the evening. A security detail and medical personnel will be on-site throughout the evening to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests.
“After last year’s successful inaugural event, we’re excited to bring A Prom to Remember back to Boston to give these deserving teens a night they’ll remember for the rest of their lives,” said Wendy Nichols, chair of A Prom to Remember: Boston. “We’re incredibly honored to be a part of their lives in this way, and we’re exceptionally grateful to the Boston community and all the sponsors, donors, volunteers, friends, family and hospital staff who are able to make it happen.”
The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common, which does not typically host proms, has generously offered its venue and catering services for this special prom event to ensure that guests enjoy an exceptional prom ambience. Sponsors of the event include Party Dress Express, Alex & Ani and The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common; their generosity has been critical in making this event a success. Participating hospitals include Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorder Center, Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
A Prom to Remember: Boston continues to seek monetary donations, services and product donations for prom accessories for this year’s event and future planned events.
“Last year’s prom was exciting in so many ways – from the limo ride and walk down the red carpet with celebrities, to dancing all night long and making new friends that will be in my life for a long time,” said Gabriana Walter, an attendee of the 2014 prom and registered attendee for the 2015 prom. “I’m extremely thankful to A Prom to Remember for planning this, and will always remember how much fun I had and how special this experience has been.”
